WOJCIECH JANICKI, PhD, is a professor and director of the Institute of Socio-economic Geography and Spatial Management (Institute) of the University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland. Educated in Poland and United States, his research focuses on political geography, migration, regional development, global issues, and conflict areas. He is the author or editor of nine books and more than sixty articles. He has taught in Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and Ireland. He actively popularizes science, having given over 150 radio and TV interviews and public lectures.
