On the tiny island of Rokesby, Addie helps her mother run a women's retreat. Dreaming daily of escape, she consoles herself by swimming in the ocean that surrounds them.

On the neighbouring island, joined to Rokesby by a bridge at low tide, Sol has sought refuge at a wind-swept prayer house, grieving both his mother’s death and his father’s devastating betrayal. Alone and anxious, he takes comfort in birdwatching, books and the sounds of the sea.

Introverts with turbulent pasts and wary hearts, Sol and Addie are both drawn to nature far more than to people – until they catch sight of one another in the wild. Can they break free from past lessons in love to risk a better future together?

From the Costa-shortlisted author of THE OTHER HALF OF AUGUSTA HOPE and ALL MY MOTHERS, this is a beautifully observed and life-affirming novel about finding yourself, and then allowing someone else to find you.

Reviews for Maybe, Perhaps, Possibly

‘Fabulous, relaxing, page-turning, dream-inspiring – what a perfect holiday companion of a book. I was sad about finishing it when I had barely begun, and was still sad to finish it at the end. Not just joyful escapism but thought-provoking and inspiring, it gave me renewed gratitude and joy for life, love and nature’ MIRANDA HART 'A wholly enchanting, entirely beautiful and utterly transporting tale' SAMUEL BURR 'A mini-holiday in itself, and an adorable ode to the romance of the awkward, the shy and the uncertain' LOUISA YOUNG 'A gentle and powerful love story. Addie and Sol are genuinely spellbinding' JULIETTA HENDERSON 'Beautifully written… A special story that will stay with you long after you finish reading' CHRISTINA SWEENEY-BAIRD 'Exquisite and very moving. I love Joanna Glen's writing, and this is my favourite book of hers to date… such a beautiful, touching, hopeful story' TRACY REES 'A love story that unfolds in elegant layers, beautifully written and intelligently observed, with utterly believable characters. I'll remember Sol and Addie for a long time' FRANCES QUINN 'I loved it… a love story for realists… This is a book that knows that life's biggest questions are answered in its smallest moments and – if we are lucky – life doesn't always take our first answer' GRÁINNE MURPHY 'Joanna Glen's writing is exquisitely beautiful and so perceptive. Maybe, Perhaps, Possibly is such a powerful story, filled with hope and kindness, and the reassurance that no one is truly a misfit, just that we have yet to discover where we belong. Joanna's writing is so wise and comforting, and this truly was a joy to read' JOANNA CANNON
