"Horia Mihai Moțit is the founding President of the Romanian Technical Standardization Committee for Flow Measurement (1990 - 2006); the founding President of A.A.I.R. -Control and Instrumentation Association of Romania (1990 - present). He received the distinguinshed awards for creativity: the National Prize for Patented Inventions (2nd place) in 1985, the National Prize for Patented Inventions (1st place) in 1987. He has achieved a significant number of patented inventions in the field of new types of industrial flowmeters (then produced in a large number), including the world premiere of the ""method for the determination of convertion curves of flow scales of gas variable area flowmeters, by using only water""."
"“The work presented in this book is comprehensive and provides a new standpoint towards the measuring of fluid flows, whose importance does not need to be recalled. What is more interesting is that, starting from an analysis of the established principles and methods, Prof. Motit could reach to the proposal of a novel way to face the problem of flow measurement; not only this, but based on this approach, he could design new flow meters which were tested with interesting results. Considering all of this, the original perspective proposed by Prof. Motit should be kept in mind by students and researchers in the field, and therefore the usefulness of this book, which summarizes his most recent findings, is beyond any doubt.” -SPAZZINI Pier Giorgio, Instituto Nationale di Ricerca Metrologica, Torino “A thorough understanding of concepts related to flow measurement greatly facilitates the subsequent discussion of flowmeter technologies. It appears that Prof. Motit has taken this approach further by analytically dissecting flowmeter designs into their structural elements. Prototypes were built where agreement between their theoretical and actual performance instilled confidence that this technique can reasonably predict the effects of flowmeter design changes. This can significantly reduce the number of design prototypes and enable the reader to design flowmeters faster, better and in a more cost-effective manner. This unique methodology can be applied to existing flowmeter designs as well as aid in establishing new flowmeter structures that can lead to new flowmeter designs such as the reaction flowmeters presented in this book.” -David W Spitzer, Spitzer and Boyes,LLC “The method based on reaction force and the reaction flowmeters elaborated by author are an innovative approach that brings to this field a new approach to measurement which can be adopted in a wide range of infrastructures, thus being relevant for stakeholders. The book presented by the Author represent novel developments of reaction force method for flow measurement, based on his large experience in the field and expertise related with the knowledge of the nature and behaviour of flow phenomena, providing an interesting analysis of the structural conditions of the flowmeters including different technical solutions and its classification. It’s worthwhile to mention that the Authors European Patent 3346159 ""Computer-implemented method for synthesis and design of flowmeters"" is also a major contribution to the understanding of the complex interpretation provided by the reaction measurement approach and, therefore, should be considered as a promising method to be applied. This book provides an important contribution to develop and to disseminate new theoretical and experimental achievements applied to this field.” -Álvaro Silva Ribeiro, President of EUROLAB aisbl (2015-2021)"
