1. Stewart Maddigan began his flying training on De Haviland Chipmunks at the age of 16 and obtained his flying licence at age 17. 2. After gaining his Commercial Pilots Licence in 1968, he was posted to Papua New Guinea as a Flight Service Officer with the Department of Civil Aviation. 3. He used his spare time to gain valuable experience flying commercial operations in and out of highland airstrips. 4. In 1992, wishing to recapture the exhilaration of grass roots aviation, he turned to ultralight/recreational flying. He has owned and operated a Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAus) flying school in Western Australia, owned and restored various ultralight/recreational aircraft and built a Savannah.5. Overall, Stewart has accumulated some 2000 hours as a pilot, doing part-time commercial work, glider towing, general sport flying and RAAus instructing. 6. Current qualifications held are: Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), RAAus Senior Instructor, RAAus Pilot Examiner (PE), RAAus Level 2 Maintenance Authority, retired RAAus Chief Flying Instructor (CFI).
