Reviews for Young By Name: Whimsical Columns from the Tetbury Advertiser 2010-2015

"""Debbie Young's fascination with her Cotswold universe is appealing and evocative. This gifted essayist's concerns are of subtle yet significant interest, and I found that ""Young by Name"", her collection of essays published in the Tetbury Advertiser during the last five years, was completely engrossing... A female Sir Roger de Coverley in miniature, whose development the reader follows throughout the five years the essays cover. Life in the Cotswold village of Hawkesbury Upton and the impact that national events and celebrations have upon that microcosm is faithfully recorded, painted in Debbie Young's humorous, colourful and gentle fashion. The essays are charming examples of this type of literature. It is gratifying that the essayist is not an obsolete dinosaur. Debbie Young is a subtle and perceptive exponent of the art which, given her literary skills, is very much alive."" - Celia Boyd, author of ""A Reason from the Stars"" series of historical novels; ""The Jewel in the Crown of the Tetbury Advertiser"" - Richard Smith, Editor"
