Wings of Desire - Angels of Berlin is a whimsical, colorful photo collection of the many angels that watch over Berlin, from the city's gates and bridges, church steeples, museums, and ancient cemeteries. Some stand proudly above the entrances of mansions, and some are modestly hidden in back yards. We'll meet angels from the Wim Wenders landmark movie as well as Marlene Dietrich, the famous ""Blue Angel,"" and the angelic singer Hildegard Neff, known in Germany as Hildegard Knef. Berlin angels also dance at parades, linger in icecream parlors, and decorate Christmas markets. And even some pets in Berlin have their very own guardian angel. This is a book that will warm your heart.

Berlinica Publishing offers English-language books from Berlin, German; fiction, non-fiction, travel guides, history about the Wall and the Third Reich, Jewish life, art, architecture and photography, as well as travel guides and cookbook. It also offers documentaries and feature films on DVD, as well as music CDs. Lothar Heinke, a Berlin native, worked as a chief reporter for the East Berlin paper Der Morgen (The Morning) until 1991. After the Wall fell, he joined the metro section of Tagesspiegel, Berlin's leading daily. He wrote about the transformation of Checkpoint Charlie, changes in the former GDR, and Berlin metro stories. In 2005, he published the book Fernsehturm Berlin (The Berlin TV Tower). Even though he is now retired, he continues to work for Tagesspiegel. He lives with his wife in Berlin-Mitte, likes to listen to music (especially classical), loves traveling in Italy, and is a member of the Berlin 1 FC Union soccer club. Eva Claudia Schweitzer works as a correspondent from New York for German papers and is the founder of Berlinica Publishing, a New-York-based publisher devoted to all things Berlin in translation. She has brought Weimar authors to the USA, mainly Kurt Tucholsky and Ernst Toller, and also books about Americans to Berlin, like Mark Twain and Bruce Springsteen. She divides her time between Berlin and New York. She has written twelve books, among them Manhattan Moments, a light-hearted short story collection about life in Manhattan.
