Colin Whittemore was raised on a small family farm in Cheshire near the Welsh Borders and has continued to work with animals all his life. His love of dogs began on the farm and eventually led to a career in animal science and well-being. He is Emeritus Professor at the University of Edinburgh and has been awarded the Royal Agricultural Society Gold Medal for outstanding research in agriculture. Author of several countryside books, he continues to write about farming and the countryside. He tends his natural wildflower meadow in the Scottish Borders where he enjoys long walks with his dog. He lives in West Linton with his wife, Chris.
