Tess is a writer of historical fiction with a touch of speculation and the Gothic.Tess has loved books-their scent, feel, and the world held within their pages-since she was a young child. That love of reading was vital in her development as a woman and mother. After spending ten years working as a registered nurse, Tess found herself in extremis, and returned to her first means of escapism: books. Tess has since written her first novel, Vale and has recently received her MA in English with a specialization in Gothic Studies with Distinction. Women's issues-now and historically-hold a tender place in Tess's heart.Tess lives with her family near the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas in California. When she is not writing, Tess is likely reading something Brontë related and imagining herself somewhere in Victorian England. Follow Tess and her blog at tessbentley.com
"""An assured and inventive debut by Tess Bentley, VALE is a modern update of the classic Victorian romances with a neat twist that adds a freshness to this Brontësque tale."" - KENT LANE for IndieReader (starred review) ""Woven with captivating historical elements, Vale is a beautifully written journey of epic love and heartache. Masterful and enchanting, readers will be enthralled!"" - MORGAN SHAMY, bestselling author of The Dollmaker ""Beautifully atmospheric and brooding, Vale embodies an unassuming and searching voice from a bygone era.
