umformung is the first comprehensive monograph on the work of the Wuppertal-based sculptor Jaana Caspary (b. 1988), whose abstract, monochrome sculptures made of cast acrylic resin, stone, or bronze have been causing a furore for several years now. Many of these sculptures, which are often accompanied by coloured pencil drawings and photomontages, are characterised by the referencing of several related basic forms, each elaborate in itself. Jaana Caspary visualises the presence of such modules in collective everyday life, but also in nature, repeatedly demonstrating the rich variety and complexity of their meanings.
With a particular focus on the most recent exhibitions, umformung presents the most important groups of works and key pieces from Caspary's oeuvre of the last ten years.
Text in English and German.
