Phan Van Giuong was a distinguished professor in Vietnamese Studies at Victoria University, Melbourne, where he taught English and Vietnamese since 1965, as well as being the coordinator for the Vietnamese Language and Culture Studies program at the university's Faculty of Arts for the past 18 years. Prof. Giuong is the author of many Vietnamese teaching/learning materials, as well as the editor for several Vietnamese magazines and newspapers. He was awarded many medals, including the Order of Australia Medal and the International Educator of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to teaching language and culture. He was also active as a setter and marker for exam papers, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) for many years. Prof Giuong is now retired but continues to teach on a part-time basis. Nguyen Dinh-Ho a was a distinguished professor in Vietnamese Studies at San Jose University. He chaired the Department of English, Faculty of Letters at the University of Saigon from 1957A-65; served as a professor of Linguistics and Foreign Languages and Literatures at Southern Illinois University as well as a director of the Center for Vietnamese Studies; and wrote many highly acclaimed Vietnamese publications.
