In today's dynamic organisational landscape, striving for a diverse workforce does not automatically translate into an inclusive workplace. The book provides practical insights and hands-on tools for how everyone can work towards an organisation that is more inclusive, diverse, equitable, accessible, and ultimately more enjoyable for all.

The model presented in the book has already been successfully applied within organisations and can have impact straight away. If you’re in HR, you can read the chapter on inclusive HR, and start changing processes and systems today. If you are in communications, you can read the chapter about inclusive communication and begin immediately. Through providing a holistic, integrated approach for recognising and then transforming – old and ingrained – systems and mechanisms, as well as adapting human behaviour and ways of thinking, this book helps readers to take tangible and impactful steps in creating an inclusive organisation.

The book is relevant to anyone looking for a guide to implement DEI practice immediately – in HR, in communications, in consulting, in research, in organisational coaching, and in the boardroom.

Reviews for Turning DEI Goals into Reality: A Hands-On Guide to an Inclusive Workplace

'In a society struggling with global movements such as #MeToo and #BlackLivesMatter and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, this book offers essential insights and provides practical tools on DEI in complex organisations such as universities, but also beyond. It is a very valuable and tangible resource for organisations to design, implement and evaluate interventions and policies that pave the way to true diversity, and to a truly inclusive future.’ Meri Georgievska-Van de Laar, Director, European Affairs and EU Liaison Officer, Erasmus University, Rotterdam ‘Change has to come from within the organisation. Leaders can make the difference. Do you put the brakes on or do you give diversity and inclusion a wide berth? The passionate people of IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) Center of Erasmus University Rotterdam have proven that a focused approach, combined with unbridled dedication, pays off. Let others benefit from their advice, lessons and experiences so that this book is the beginning of an ever-expanding change in society. It won't all happen by itself, but pushing and pulling pays off.’ Rabin S. Baldewsingh, National Coordinator Against Discrimination and Racism in the Netherlands ‘The IDEA Center of Erasmus University Rotterdam operationalizes the work on inclusion, diversity, equity, and access by implementing an integrated and comprehensive strategy and model. This book shows what has been done to lead by example. The IDEA Center’s integrated approach addresses all the necessary dimensions to be an inclusive workplace, which means having complementary policies and services and, even more, a good understanding of what is necessary to transform intention into impact. This book is a call to action!’ Mary Tupan-Wenno, Executive Director, ECHO Expert Center for Diversity Policy
