I adore this book. Occasionally one finds a book that is gorgeous and teaches children and adults. The Wondrous Cloud Forest, beautifully written and illustrated, educates about protecting wildlife and the environment. Poetic prose and paintings of exotic birds, insects, mammals, and flowers illustrate the beauty and importance of cloud forests. The book's unhurried poetry and lush paintings show children the animals, plants, people, and science of this unique and magical ecosystem in Papua, New Guinea. The book also asks children if they would like to help the animals in the cloud forest and offers suggestions on what they can do. Anyone can benefit from this part. The book's concept intrigued me on Kickstarter. Dallas World Aquarium Gift Shop I'm a very picky school librarian, enchanted by this book. Our art teacher recognized the unique beauty in this gorgeously-illustrated introduction to the cloud forest of Papua, New Guinea, and bought a copy for our library. It features plants and animals rendered in vibrant, coffee-enhanced watercolors. Lyrical poetry describes not only the wildlife but also the people of the island. The author saves the gently-worded threat for the very end, but retains positive feelings with a hopeful message that people are working hard to save this vital environment and the life it supports. Includes information on how we can help, too. - Bonnie, on Goodreads. This picture book will delight young and old alike. Wendra Lynne takes the reader on a magical journey of a cloud forest, detailing in her lyrical text and images the wonders this unusual and endangered forest holds.
