Immerse yourself in an utterly unique musical-visual journey, the quest to find the truth about this tantalising and symbolic enigma, worshipped and revered, mocked and mistrusted in equal measure. Take a trip through alien worlds and bizarre scenarios in a psychedelic Hero's Journey of thrilling and surreal art from the mind of celebrated artist and composer Jem Panufnik. This highly original 96- page lavishly illustrated book includes a specially created musical soundtrack recorded under his Jem Stone moniker: the kind of deep and hypnotic, dubby and delicious funk grooves Mr Panufnik is renowned for.

Since the late 90s artist and musician Jem Panufnik has been at the cutting edge of underground art and music culture, most notably with Finger Lickin', the pioneering dance music label he co-founded and which for over a decade acted as a springboard for his multitude of talents ranging from graphics and illustration to DJing and record production. His highly distinctive, often surreal comic-funk style can be seen on everything from record sleeves, t-shirts and tattoos to rock posters and beer labels. As a producer, Jem has a huge repertoire of club tracks and remixes as Jem Stone.

Reviews for The Legend of Kaptain Karnival

""Jem's work leaps out at you. Whether it's pouncing from the speaker or jumping off the canvas, there's a vivid playfulness and sense of adventure across both of his disciplines. It's very rare you see such artful dexterity in dance music culture."" Dave Jenkins (Bandcamp Editorial/International DJ Mag)
