Dr. David Albin is the Medical Director for the HCSC (Hernia Center of Southern California) and the Pasadena Surgery Center, LLC. He's a recognized expert in hernia repair and has performed over 12,000 hernia surgeries. Certified by the American Board of General Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Qualified Medical Examiner, Dr. Albin has authored and published numerous medical articles, and has been appointed to the staff of several respected hospitals. He graduated from Kasturba Medical School, then went on to attend Buffalo Medical School in New York. Dr. David Albin completed his internship at the Downstate Medical Center before moving to California and completing his residency in surgery at King/Drew UCLA Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a practicing QME. He joined the staff of the HCSC as a general surgeon and hernia doctor in 2014. As a hernia surgeon, Dr. Michael Albin works alongside his father, David Albin, who founded the specialty hernia practice in 1987. Dr. Michael Albin completed his General Surgery Residency at Hofstra School of Medicine in New York. He graduated from medical school in 2009 earning his M.D. from Penn State College of Medicine. Dr. Michael Albin continues to evolve the practice and improve patient outcomes. He is active in the American Hernia Society, a group of surgeons dedicated to the expertise of hernia repair and tracks outcomes through the American Hernia Society Quality collaborative. He produces publications and presents posters to other surgeons at their annual meetings. He understands the importance of giving back to the community. Dr. Michael Albin treats a large population of firefighters and police who get injured at work and develop hernias. He volunteers as an emergency responder for the local fire department CERT battalion. He is also a trained HAM radio operator. Dr. Michael Albin focuses on athletics and good health. He was a swimmer and water polo player in high school. He picked up triathlons alongside his father in college. During this time, they scaled Mt. Kilimanjaro.
