After twelve years teaching and working in leadership roles across the UK, Jamie Thom left the classroom in August of 2022 to set up and run the English PGDE at Edinburgh Napier University. He has written four books on education and is a qualified coach. He co-hosts 'Beyond Survival: the new teacher podcast', a popular podcast for teachers at the start of their career, with Dr Colin McGill. He is passionate about supporting teachers to be the best version of themselves. Colin McGill is an Associate Professor of Teacher Education at Edinburgh Napier University. Prior to this, he enjoyed 14 years as a science teacher and head of science in secondary schools in Scotland. As well as working with student teachers to develop their classroom craft, he also provides chemistry-specific professional development for existing teachers. He has written for several publications, including TES and Education in Chemistry. He is a co-host of Beyond Survival: the new teacher podcast and is passionate about supporting student teachers and novice teachers to develop their teaching practice.
