Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Charles grew up singing with his three brothers and dreaming of becoming a singer/songwriter. Although he had a scholarship to study music, Charles felt led to move to New York City, where he became a member of the gospel music group Soul Liberation. They performed in venues around the country and made appearances on television shows such as The 700 Club. Charles later relocated to Dallas, Texas, where he reunited with his brothers and realized his childhood dream when they became international recording artists with MCA Records as Mac Band. He also led worship and was on several praise teams. Charles was inspired to write a handbook that incorporates the alphabet into prayer to show love, adoration, and gratitude to God for all He has done.
