H. P. Lovecraft is considered one of the most influential writers of the 20th century and the originator of the cosmic horror genre. Born in Rhode Island, USA in 1890, he was influenced by various literary interests as well as an interest in science which gave voice to his ideas in a series of dark tales of fantasy and horror. He suffered from ill health throughout his life. He died in 1937, but his legacy lives on in a body of work that has inspired countless films, TV series, board games and other writers.
