"""When I say dazzling I mean it: Sweet Jimmy is an extraordinary piece of work in several ways and sometimes novel hardly seems like the right word. More often it seems like the results of a prowling investigation of various crime scenes, most of them in and around Sydney, and these are rendered with brilliant idiomatic control. . . . A strikingly original approach to material we may feel we've already read and seen enough, and if Brown ever decides to leave acting there is clearly another career waiting for him."" --Sydney Morning Herald ""A series of short stories steeped in humour, violence, pathos and inner-city Australian sensibility. . . . The tongue in cheek here is planted so firmly on occasions you can see the bulge becoming permanent. . . . This entire collection was enormous fun - laughed out loud a lot, and finished up hoping that Brown is contemplating a longer form foray into a genre which he must love. He's definitely good at acting in it, and now it turns out, pretty good at the authoring side as well.' --Aust Crime Fiction"
