Suzanne Turley - one of New Zealand's most sought-after landscape designers - has created many of the country's most desirable private gardens, all set against the spectacular backdrop of the natural environment.

From the pristine Pacific beaches of the North Island to the breathtaking peaks of the Southern Alps, this book gives readers rare access to these hidden gardens nestled alongside coastal cliffs and surging rivers, woven into bush or etched seamlessly into volcanic hills.

Now available as a smaller edition of the original, Private Gardens of Aotearoa is both an exemplar of cutting-edge landscape design and a travelogue of a country feted for the magnificence of its natural features.

Suzanne Turley is an innovative and highly sought-after landscape designer based in New Zealand. Working on prestigious properties across the country and internationally, Suzanne regularly collaborates with top architects and interior designers to seamlessly integrate outdoor and indoor spaces. After a successful career in fashion, where she developed a strong sensibility for colours, proportions and textures, Suzanne established Suzanne Turley Landscapes in 1995. The practice is known for reinventing classic garden design using a contemporary, fluid aesthetic and soft, native landscaping. Thomas Cannings is a creative director and photographer specialising in architecture, design and fashion. Originally from the UK, he studied design and photography in Milan and went on to spend ten years in Italy, working as a designer at Versace and then as the senior creative at an international publishing house. He has spent the following decade working across Asia, Australia and New Zealand, leading the creative team for a large fashion retailer and designing award-winning publications.
