When wounded people come to church, we often do one of two things, with the best of intentions:
1. We minimize or discount their pain.

2. We try to ""fix"" them by being the therapist.

Both just cause more damage. And the worst part is, we don't know we're causing damage. We want to help. We have the right heart. We've just never been trained how to receive wounded people effectively. By doing it wrong we make it clear we don't understand their pain, and they keep it secret for their own protection. Because we aren't safe.

But what if there's another way?

At the end of the day, whether we are Jesus to wounded people or unintentionally cause more damage depends on how well we steward wounded hearts.

This book shows you:

How to validate people's pain instead of unintentionally shaming them for their pain. How to receive someone's story as a twofold witness -- that they are seen and that they have value.

What spiritual bypassing is and how to avoid it. The difference between cheap forgiveness and real forgiveness. Why real forgiveness is about grieving a loss, and how to walk with someone through it. How to honor someone's story by recognizing and avoiding Christian peer pressure. Practically what to say and what not to say.

And much more. All in less than two hours reading time.

Because if they can't go to the people of God when they're hurting, where can they go?

Reviews for Stewarding Wounded Hearts: Being Jesus to Wounded People

""I just read the first chapter and all I can say is WOW. Why haven't you written this stuff and got it into hands of Christian leaders sooner? I can see myself utilizing this information and teaching it line for line in my Wednesday night adult teaching lessons. You have me hooked for the rest of the book!""Pastor Phil Corbett, First Assembly of God, Corrigan, Texashttps: //www.corriganfirst.org/ ""I've already used one of your chapters in a homily for my parish. I look forward to incorporating these things immediately into my ministry!""Father Jonathan Goertz, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Henrico, Vhttps: //ollrichva.org/ ""I have actually used what I learned in reading this book quite a few times!! I found myself in numerous hard conversations with people very close to me, and it showed to be SUCH a better result! I can't stop raving about this book when I use your methods of communication with people who are hurting!""Natalie Buchanan, Reader ""The book was very impactful to my family: We spent several hours over the dinner table discussing it! Your style is both challenging but also encouraging. You give us practical examples of how to truly minister to hurting people who need the church to be their place of safety. May everyone get this message in them!""Tracy R. Graham, Readerhttps: //TracyRGraham.com ""Thank you for putting this book forward. It is a blessing and very needed in transforming this world!""Aubrey Remedy, Readerhttps: //AubreyRemedy.com ""Thank you so, so very much! I especially have learned a lot about just being with those who have been wounded. As you say, sometimes, just sitting with them is in and of itself, ministry. Not jumping in with your own story is so important. THEY are to be the focus! I am thankful for this book!""Adriene Terrill, Reader ""I was so blessed with reading this! I think it causes those reading it to take a thoughtful look at their life. And it is very readable and applicable.""Jeannine Metzger, Reader
