Reviews for South Asia Migration Report 2024: Remittances, Resilience and Rehabilitation

“The South Asia Migration Report provides an important, relevant and timely introspection into migration related issues in South Asia in the contemporary context. It acts as an overarching bridge covering a myriad of aspects ranging from social mobility, remittances and reintegration policies for migrants, youth and gender aspects, climate change driven aspects, as well as vulnerabilities arising out of exogenous shocks that drive migration, including the Covid-19 pandemic across different geographies within South Asia. This book is a vital addition towards understanding multi-faceted issues in a significantly populated and vulnerable region, setting a precedent for further exploration for young researchers, civil society and policy practitioners.” —Bilesha Weeraratne, Head of Migration and Urbanization Policy Research; Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka “South Asia Migration Report is an invaluable resource for those interested in understanding migration and associated aspects in the region and beyond. The report's editor S. Irudaya Rajan and contributors have since 2017 provided a comprehensive overview of the region's migration patterns, policies, and challenges. They also offer valuable insights into the opportunities and vulnerabilities of migrants, both within South Asia and abroad. As the report's editor, Mr. Rajan, being a leading expert on South Asian migration, has in all editions brought together a team of experts to produce a volume that is both informative, insightful, and adds to the existing body of knowledge. The report's contributors come from a variety of disciplines, including economics, sociology, anthropology, and law. This diversity of expertise ensures that the report provides a well-rounded perspective on South Asian migration. I highly recommend this report to anyone interested in learning more about South Asian and migration patterns in this region. It is an essential tool for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners alike.” — Vaqar Ahmed, Joint Executive Director, Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Islamabad, Pakistan
