Solution Focused Coaching Supervision offers the reader a theoretically coherent framework for coaching supervision, outlined in an engaging way that is simple to understand and apply immediately using a variety of collaborative coaching supervision moves grounded in practical examples.

The book offers an in depth understanding of the theory of Solution Focused Supervision, which as a social-constructionist approach, privileges the coaching supervision clients’ experience, resources and preferred future over an “analytic” or deficit-oriented stance. It also provides a step-by-step “how-to” for individual, group, peer and team coaching supervision. Coaching supervision ethics is discussed in theory and via real case examples. Deliberate and reflective practice models will enable readers to develop their practice wherever their starting point may be. The reader will also find transcripts of actual coaching supervision sessions to bring the theory to life.

An essential and comprehensive resource that will enable beginner coaching supervisors to start practising this highly respectful and ethical approach to coaching supervision, while also inspiring more advanced coaching supervisors to use this simple and effective approach to coaching supervision.

Reviews for Solution Focused Coaching Supervision: An Essential Guide for Individual, Group, Peer and Team Coaching Supervision

"""Social Focused Coaching Supervision offers the opportunity for supervisors to further extend their practice through a social constructionist, collaborative, Solution Focused approach to coaching supervision. Skilfully written, practically focussed and insightful, Dierolf and her colleagues offer the reader both an opportunity to deepen their understanding and apply this evidenced based approach to their practice.” -Professor Jonathan Passmore, Henley Business School, UK ""Solution Focused Coaching Supervision provides a unique perspective on coaching supervision grounded in a social constructionist paradigm which has much to offer coaching practice. The book is practical, informative and beneficial for supervisors, coaches and educators.” -Dr Adrian Myers, MA Coaching and Mentoring, Oxford Brookes University ""This book provides food for thought for all professional supervisors and those planning to train in supervision. In particular, reflective practice will take on increasing importance in our professions.” -Dr. Michel Moral, Msc,PhD, Cergy-Pontoise University, France. ""This book is most timely as it offers a new perspective on developmental Supervision in coaching. It is perfectly balanced in its structure and clear in its content. If you are serious about Supervision in coaching, this is a must read.” -Professor Bob Garvey, Leeds Business School, UK ""This is a welcome addition to the literature on Coaching Supervision . It’s a great resource that will enable coaches and supervisors to find the best support for themselves and to explore different approaches that will add to their knowledge and CPD. It offers a detailed description of Solution Focused Coaching Supervision for both individuals and groups. It includes case studies to bring the subject to life. This book will help to raise the global profile of Supervision.” -Carol Whitaker, Oxford Brookes University, UK. ""Even a quick mention of the word “supervision” anywhere in the coaching world gets a strong reaction. Some coaches love supervision. Some coaches see it as a box to check on the way to a credential. And still other coaches find supervision to be something they're just trying out. Bottom line from my experience: Coaches who are committed to supervision demonstrate that they are serious about their craft and their professional development. What Kirsten Dierolf and colleagues have done in this work is keep the focus on supporting coaches by leveraging the supervision process. Whether it's exploring a change model, client growth, supervision strategy or the ethics of coaching supervision, this book will sharpen your supervision skills and by extension, your coaching.” -Jonathan Reitz, MCC, ACTC, Case Western Reserve University ""This book about coaching supervision from a social constructionist/ Solution Focused perspective is an instant classic. Whether you are a professional supervisor or starting to become engaged with others, this book gives you a myriad ways to take an open and enabling stance to supervise ethically, encouragingly and professionally.” -Dr Mark McKergow, Author of The Next Generation of Solution Focused Practice ""As readers journey through this book, they can look out for a golden thread weaving through each element of the authors’ supervision practice – the solution focused approach. This clear methodological perspective provides an internally consistent reference point for decision-making, ethics and best practice. A distinct addition to the developing field of coaching supervision” -Jo Birch, Supervisor, Executive Coach, Psychotherapist, Author & Editor"
