SELENA AND HER MYSTERIES

Selena Jenkins is a young woman who lives in a huge 70-year-old house -- a house with rooms full of mysteries and people not being what they seem to be on the surface. As doors are opened (both physically and in knowledge gained), mistakes are inevitable. Extraordinary travel takes place ensuring Selena must mature quickly or be lost in a situation where she cannot stay. This travel includes going somewhere and to a timeframe that Selena did not realize was possible. Duplicity is in the wings as people she trusted are not what they portrayed; friendships grow stronger; love is whispered; shadows drift by; and memories are blurred. Selena's words to herself echo, ""Who were those people?"" Selena's life is complicated as people and events necessitate her to overcome heart-breaking deceit and to make difficult life decisions about the past and about her future.

Family mysteries swirl tightly around her, overpowering her thoughts as she searches for answers in unexpected places and circumstances. What she finds will change her life and bring hope for love and, finally, understanding of all the mysteries that shape her past and present.

PROLOGUE -

I can't ask Aunt Jenny.

Honestly, is there nothing that I believed five days ago that actually is what I thought it was?

Should I begin a list of what I have discovered in these recent days?

Would it make me feel more or even less in control? There are so many strange things, so many mysteries.

Backing away as she had instructed herself, yet hesitating, Selena moved to the door and closed it hearing a firm ""click"". With precision, she locked the door with the key she had found.

Remembering back to that afternoon, she also remembered another afternoon, another child. Now she knew who they were; where they had come from; how far they had travelled; and what happened in the years between.

But there were those remaining mysteries, still unsolved.

Moira Darrell was born and lived in a small town in Saskatchewan; however, she now lives closer to the mountains in Alberta with her husband and kitty, Caylie Ceilidh Pretty Lady. Some family members are close by; others so far away that it brings tears to her eyes. Such is life. She has been a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a legal secretary (22 years), a school admin secretary (12 years), a poet, a hand-sculpting potter in many techniques, dabbled in drawing, painting, and she has her second level of Reiki. Moira is the author of MESSED-UP CHOICES and SELENA AND HER MYSTERIES. As a teenager, she loved writing in Composition class and has written several poems, some of which found themselves in her books. Moira is especially interested in the emotions of her characters, the friendships, the relationships, all influenced by people, events, and emotions in her own life. Not that any of these events necessarily happened to her, but the emotions still apply. She tends to get totally engrossed in the character's emotions as she writes and re-reads segments of her books. She laughs, feels sad, gets a tear in her eye, has anger at a deceit and delight in the happy parts of each book. These emotions and characters do grab her and pull her along with them. And this is what she wants to do with her readers. She wants her readers to be pulled along by her story and the people in her books.Moira Darrell writes about family drama / friendships / and relationships - throwing in as much humour as the story allows. She actually dislikes the word 'characters' because the people in her books become like friends to her. Didn't we all have imaginary friends when we were younger? Well, apparently, Moira Darrell still does. Moira loves nature and nurture, has had many pets - two closely resembling the animals in MESSED-UP CHOICES, and has loved them all. As she appears in ""SELENA AND HER MYSTERIES"", Moira currently does have a kitty named Caylie Ceilidh Pretty Lady - really. Her English Springer Spaniel, Snickers, now passed away, knew the hand commands described in SELENA AND HER MYSTERIES and now is part of her book, MESSED-UP CHOICES. Ringo, another English Springer Spaniel mentioned in MESSED-UP CHOICES, was her dog. He was a handful and a very overwhelming addition to her young family!!Moira has volunteered for various groups throughout her life, such as community associations, city zone board, a women's shelter, a housing project, pottery groups and a city arts' committee. She believes in giving to charity by time or donation if you are able. She attempts to live her life to the best of her ability. ""Instead of worrying about what was or what might be, rejoice in what IS.""
