Aimed at the global community of scientists, this textbook teaches the use of stylistic tools typically used to formulate research issues, methods, analyses, results, and discussions. It reveals ways to explain and discuss research, showing how it contributes to scientific advances. Based on the theory of linguistic pragmatics, the book focuses on a unique qualitative approach to producing readable research papers. It teaches how to write with clarity, conciseness, and flow. Grammar, semantic networking, and phrases commonly used in scientific writing are tackled in association with research concepts. Intended for busy scientists, it provides a synthetic overview of the essential characteristics of good scientific writing, which is then practiced and expanded in a section of exercises. Various tips for consultation of valuable resources to improve the special skill of scientific writing are provided throughout the book. It includes solutions to exercises and a glossary.
