In a wide-ranging exploration of what a 'Saint Patrick inspired leadership-style' would look like today, this book invites us to consider how to penetrate an increasingly hostile culture, what kind of leaders the Church needs to develop and how we might measure our impact. Both the Church in the Western world and the secular culture around us could benefit from a few on-target Saint Patricks to inspire and guide us. Read this book all the way to its conclusion; it is full of good things. -Stuart Bell, Assistant Bishop in the Anglican Convocation Europe In a time where the Church continues to be addicted to the corrosive leadership modes of power, impressiveness and relevance (Henri Nouwen), we have a clear and hopeful call that God can use the weak and pedestrian among us (like me) for His glory! I read it straight through because I couldn't put it down. This will become a standard text for leadership training in our community. -Phil Dillingham, Priest Lake Christian Fellowship, Convenor of the Missional-Contemplative Roundtable (Middle Tennessee) Saint Patrick: Resilience and Adaptability in Church Leadership is a book with deep roots in the past, solid branches in the present, and offers a promise of rich fruit for the future. Roberts' treatment of the formation of leaders through our experience of hardship and interpersonal conflict alone is worth the price of the book. An excellent blend of respect for history, sensitivity to the Spirit, and practical communication. -Evan B. Howard, author of A Guide to Christian Spiritual Formation: How Scripture, Spirit, Community, and Mission Shape our Souls As Roberts suggests, St. Patrick's life is a parable that gives life and hope in the present whereby we might reimagine what church leadership means in the 21st century. Listen well to some interesting history, and, more importantly, embrace a type of leadership that cannot only survive challenges but flourish despite them. -John Mark Hicks, Retired Professor of Theology, Lipscomb University, TN I can happily recommend this insightful volume to anyone who wants to explore how the great saints of the past can still impact our lives today, for 'Their voice have gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world' (Psalm 19:4). -The Very Reverend Timothy Cremeens, PhD, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North America
