Alyssa Huynh is a freelance writer from Melbourne. Alyssa began writing as a young girl, inspired by her trips to the library with her late grandfather. In 2020, she began sharing her thoughts on racism and connection to cultural identity through the Instagram account @alyssahuynhwritings and quickly gained a following for her poignant reflections and courageous anti-racism advocacy. Alyssa has worked as a diversity and inclusion advisor and contributed to publications including Mamamia, The Latch, Sydney Morning Herald and the Shameless podcast.
'A searingly honest and impassioned account of being an advocate in the social media era, Alyssa's voice is fierce, urgent and brave; and filled with deep familial love. This book burns with an urgency and clarion call to action.' -- Alice Pung 'This powerful set of essays knocks down any complacent attitudes Australians may share about racism. It is a straight-talking narrative from a powerful writer who has had enough, yet has the grace and fortitude to ask us to consider our attitudes and to create an environment based on humanity rather than race.' * Readings * 'Safe Space is a call to action for Australians to wake up' * OUTinPerth *
