"Robin Akselrud, OTD, OTR/L, received her Bachelor of Science/Master of Science degree from Touro College and her Post-Professional Doctorate from Quinnipiac University in 2017. She is the program director and an assistant professor at Long Island University−Brooklyn in the Bachelor of Science/Master of Science Occupational Therapy program. Dr. Akselrud was an assistant professor and academic fieldwork coordinator at Hofstra University from 2017 to 2020 and was an adjunct professor at Long Island University−Brooklyn, Touro College, and York College from 2012 to 2018. Dr. Akselrud is a Certified Early Intervention provider. In 2010, she established an outpatient occupational therapy private practice, Forward Occupational Therapy PLLC. In 2021, she published a self-development planner for students and practitioners, The My OT Journey Planner. Dr. Akselrud has also developed the ""My OT Journey"" podcast, a student-run podcast platform to facilitate unity, communication, and leadership skills amongst occupational therapy students. Dr. Akselrud is currently in her second term as the leadership and management coordinator for the American Occupational Therapy Association Home and Community Health Special Interest Section and a member of the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions Leadership Committee. Dr. Akselrud’s research is focused on interprofessional collaboration and working with mothers to support their own physical and mental health and their children’s development."
