Tony Mauro currently teaches Computer Science, Machine Learning, and Digital Electronic Circuit Design at the secondary (high school), community college, and University levels, and founded NexStream Technical Education to provide enrichment opportunities in these areas to students. His formal education is in Electrical Engineering where he completed his BSEE and MSEE degrees from the California Polytechnic University and the University of Southern California. He worked as a hardware, software and systems design engineer for over 20 years where he was awarded over 20 patents. He is also active in computer science and engineering pathways with the California Career Technical Education (CTE) program of study and contributes to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) to promote the fields to secondary school students.
For AI educators, it is not a hyperbole that they also play a key role in shaping the future of humanity. Through this book, Tony Mauro aims to empower AI educators in equipping the next generation of young minds and future outliers with instruction and insights into artificial intelligence and how it should be used for the maximum benevolence of mankind. --Victor H. Chan, Founder and CEO, Machyna, Inc., Del Mar, California, March, 2024 In this book, you'll find a systematic breakdown of machine learning fundamentals through both accessible math and easy-to-implement code. Perhaps most instructive of all is Tony's unique approach, he's already had success teaching in this way to a growing number of high school learners through NexStream and his work with UC San Diego. -- Deepak Singh, A.B. Computer Science and Neuroscience, Harvard College Class of 2023 I am immensely grateful for the mentorship and guidance I have received from Tony, from writing my first Python program to building audio and language classification models. His curriculum is clear, first introducing Python for ML and gradually building upon more complex topics, providing a holistic resource that is approachable for someone wanting to study ML, regardless of experience level. -- Lia Zheng, Computer Science, Harvard College Class of 2026.
