To write a book on private foundations and accommodate all the idiosyncrasies of the jurisdictions concerned is a challenge, but to extract the common features that private foundations have in common is a necessary step to develop the concept of international private foundations. The book is timely in that it is presenting for the first time in a comprehensive account of foundations the influence of the courts, which are beginning to take a part in interpreting the foundation laws. * Dr John Goldsworth, International Company and Commercial Law Review * The English concept of the trust has spread throughout the world. In this immensely scholarly and fascinating book, Paolo Panico shows this fusion of an obligation of conscience with a title to property taking slightly different forms in different jurisdictions - sometimes by statute and sometimes by reason of a decision of the local court. A lucid and hugly informative work. * Milton Grundy, Gray's Inn Tax Chambers *
