This volume fulfills the need for an accessible academic book that addresses the gender issues that women face as Christian disciples, whether in formal leadership roles or engaging leadership in informal means, and considers these issues in the context of world Christianity. In an era in which mission is ""from everywhere, to everywhere,"" when local churches strive to be missional, and when Christians are engaged in intercultural ministry, this book invites a scholar-practitioner conversation, engaging multiple disciplines and perspectives to explore the role of women in the mission of God. An interdisciplinary and intercultural conversation about women will enrich the church's ongoing effort to be faithful to God's call to women (and men) to participate in God's work in the world.

Reviews for Agency and Women in the Mission of God Power

"""Illuminating and inspiring, this book presents intercultural and interdisciplinary conversations on the crucial roles played by women in God's mission, the barriers they face, and their determination to claim power and leadership against discrimination. The various case studies offer hope and vision for the future."" --Kwok Pui-lan, dean's professor of systematic theology, Candler School of Theology, Emory University ""Another urgent matter and landmark volume from Fuller's annual Missiology Lectures, one brimming with biblical, theological, global, and practical perspectives on the actual and yet possible contributions of women to our common missional efforts. I highly encourage fellow missioners and mission leaders to attend to the missiological tongues bearing witness across these pages. --Amos Yong, professor of theology and mission, Fuller Seminary"
