Polyimides: Advances in Blends and Nanocomposites brings together the latest research in the area of polyimide-based blends and nanocomposites, opening the door to a range of cutting-edge applications. The book begins by discussing polyimide architectures, synthetic pathways, processing, properties, challenges and application potential before introducing polyimide-based blends and nanocomposites and explaining the modification of polyimide chains for high performance composites matrices. This is followed by chapters offering detailed, methodical coverage of each main type of blend and nanocomposite, covering preparation techniques, structures, properties and current and emerging applications.

Throughout the book's chapters, there is an emphasis on methods for high-performance polyimide-based materials, with a constant orientation towards applications and additional in-depth coverage at the end of the book on three key application areas, gas separation, fuel cells, and biomedical applications. This is a valuable resource for researchers and advanced students across polymer science, composite science, nanotechnology, materials chemistry, biomaterials, and chemical engineering, as well as R&D professionals, scientists and engineers working with polyimide-based materials for advanced industrial applications.

M. D. Damaceanu graduated in Chemistry and Physics (1999) at the “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iasi (Romania) and received in 2005 the PhD in Chemistry at the Romanian Academy within the theme „Oxadiazole-based polymers for high performance applications”. She received as PhD student a fellowship in the frame of the FP5 project RTN-EUROFET at Bicocca University, Milan-Italy and two postdoc fellowships in the frame of POSDRU Postdoctoral Fellowships Programme ""Cristofor I. Simionescu” and FP7-REGPOT-2010-1 project - STREAM. Now, M. D. Damaceanu is senior researcher at ICMPP and since 2016 when she received the Habilitation in Chemistry supervises PhD students and post-doctoral researchers. She was/is involved in international cooperation with researchers from Hungary, Russia, Poland, Germany and Italy, where she was often Visiting Researcher. Currently, she coordinates an interacademic exchange program between ICMPP_Romania and CMPW-PAN_Poland. M. D. Damaceanu has developed a rich scientific activity in the field of high performance heteroaromatic/heterocyclic polymers for advanced technologies (electronics, optoelectronics, biomedicine, environmental protection, alternative energies, etc.), which led to 110 articles (107 ISI), 28 proceeding papers (10 ISI), 2 books and 4 book chapters, 1 patent, over 100 lectures/communications, 7 projects/contracts as coordinator (1 with a multinational company branch) and 18 projects as team member. The scientific activity had as impact the winning of 2 prizes: ""Nicolae Teclu"" Award of the Romanian Academy (2012) and the National Science and Art Foundation Award (2013). M. D. Damaceanu has the Hirsch Index = 24 (source: Web of Science, cumulative Damaceanu MD or Iosip MD) and 930 citations (without self-citations). Dr. Raluca Nicoleta Darie-Ni?a is curently a Senior Researcher at “Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Iasi, Romania. She received her PhD in Chemistry (2009) and Postdoctoral degree (2013) in Biomaterials from Romanian Academy. MSc in Organic Physical Chemistry (2001) and license in Chemistry and Physics (1999) were awarded by Faculty of Chemistry, “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iasi, Romania. She has 20 years of experience in reactive processing (natural and synthetic, pure or recycled polymers), polymers compatibilization and chemical functionalization, physico-chemical characterization of polymers and composites, development of materials for food packaging and structural applications, durability testing of plastic materials. Scientific activity: 69 published papers (63 ISI), 2 books, 13 book chapters, 4 patents (1international), member in national and international grants (director for 2 national grants), over 150 conferences, oral presentations and posters in national and international symposiums, co-organizer of different national and international meetings, international training in Poland, France, The Netherlands, Germany. The high visibility of her activity is reflected in more than 1300 citations, H-index = 23 (source Web of Science, cumulative Darie R or Darie Nita R or Darie-Nita R).
