Sylvia Weinstein Craft is publisher and editor of Oyster Pointer, an award-winning feature newspaper and primary source of “good news” information for the city of Newport News, Virginia. Prior to launching Oyster Pointer in 1986, Sylvia spent 26 years with the Virginia Peninsula Industrial Council (VPIC), an organization devoted to improving the community through economic development, where she was the council’s director of public relations for 11 years. A true entrepreneur, Sylvia formed her own public relations, advertising and marketing agency, which later became The Weinstein Agency, a successful business, garnering many international and national awards. Sylvia attended The College of William & Mary and has been serving her community as an exemplary role model for decades, receiving numerous awards including a Humanitarian Award presented by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, for her community involvement, professional leadership and lifetime of contributions to improving the lives of others. Sylvia resides in Newport News, Virginia. Dr. Lisa Spiller is Distinguished Professor of Marketing, Emerita in the Joseph W. Luter, III School of Business at Christopher Newport University (CNU) in Newport News, Virginia. An inspiring teacher, mentor, advisor and role model to her students and junior faculty, Dr. Spiller had a profound impact on the lives of many during her 31-year career at CNU prior to her retirement in 2022. Dr. Spiller has garnered more than 40 honors and awards for her extraordinary achievement, leadership and valuable contributions to her students, university, discipline and community. An accomplished scholar, Dr. Spiller authored several college textbooks, including Selling and Sales Management: Developing Skills for Success published by SAGE. Prior to joining the CNU faculty, Lisa was a faculty member at Avila College in Missouri and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She also served as marketing director with a McDonald’s Restaurant franchise in Erie, Pennsylvania prior to her career in academia. Spiller received her B.S. in business administration and her MBA from Gannon University in Erie, PA, and her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Lisa resides in Newport News, Virginia.
