Mário F S Ferreira is a Professor at Physics Department of University of Aveiro, Portugal. His research interests include modelling and characterization of multi-section semiconductor lasers for coherent systems, quantum well lasers, optical fiber amplifiers and lasers, soliton propagation, nanophotonics, polarization and nonlinear effects in optical fibers. He has written more than 350 scientific journal and conference publications, twenty book chapters, and five books, including Nonlinear Effects in Optical Fibers (Wiley & OSA, 2011), Topics on Mathematical Physics (ECM, Bazil, 2018), and Optical Signal Processing in Highly Nonlinear Fibers (CRC Press, 2020). He has edited four books and four special issues concerning optical fiber technology and applications. He is a Travelling Lecturer of both OSA and SPIE. Mukul Chandra Paul is a senior principal scientist at the Fiber Optics and Photonics Division, Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute, Jadavpur, Kolkata, India. His research work is focused on optical materials related to the development of various types of specialty optical fibers for the making of fiber-based photonics devices and components. He had a strong international collaborative research network with different countries such as UK, France, Malaysia, Portugal, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Russia, Mexico, Japan and Indonesia. He has published more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, written seven book chapters, and edited one book, Fiber Lasers (Nova Science Publishers, 2017). He also holds 7 US patents and has filed 4 Indian patents.
