Ellen is a retired educator, practicing artist and adventurer from Galesville, Wisconsin. Seldom venturing on an expedition without her paints and sketchbook, her style of art reflects the Adventurism Art Movement that she has identified and practices. After completing her solo source to sea expedition of the Mississippi River, she completed 1,500 miles of the Missouri River. Her art studio is close to the Black River and Mississippi River near Trempealeau, Wisconsin and is covered with art produced from creative voyages by canoe and kayak into the wilderness. Not only does Ellen provide a sincere and fascinating account of her solo kayaking journey down the Mississippi, but she has illustrated her book with her beautiful artwork depicting river scenes and the people she encountered along the way. It is great story of her adventures and her daily struggles to complete a 2300+ mile journey in her yellow kayak named 'Inspiration.' Her generous spirit is reflected in her sketches and paintings she gives to people who assisted her along the way (river angels). This book is more than just another narrative of someone's paddle to to the sea. It the vision of the river though an artist's eyes, something that offers another dimension to the river and one's soul. Thank you Ellen for creating this inspirational work. John F. Sullivan
