Danny Snell grew up on Kaurna Country in Adelaide. He trained at the Central School of Art and the University of South Australia and graduated with a Bachelor of Design (Illustration). His first major picture book Whose Tail Is That? was published in 1999 and was shortlisted for the CBCA Award for Best New Illustrator. His second book Bilby Moon was nominated as a Notable Book in 2001 and shortlisted for the 2001 Kids Own Australian Literature Award (KOALA). Danny's most recent book One Little Duck was published in 2023 by HarperCollins.
