MY SONG: Moving from Childhood Abuse to Gratitude, tells the story of a spiritual journey. A crazy up and down, slightly deranged journey of the author's life until her mid-70s. It is one she chose to take, and in some instances, one circumstances brought her to. The author thinks we always have a choice of how to navigate our life journey and what to make of it. The short story told here is a transformation from a child of abuse to a woman healer. The longer story describes the steps, decisions and people along the way who made the whole thing possible. This book includes growing up in a big family, marriage and children, divorce and single parenting, laughter, love, music and friendship, but also childhood trauma, dreams, visions, madness that sent her to a psychiatric hospital, and spiritual awakening. Her chosen fields of study in psychology, energy medicine and spiritual emergence inform the perspectives on her journey.

Reviews for My Song: Moving from Childhood Abuse to Gratitude

"""Once you have entered in Dorothea's story, you will not be able to put it down. MY SONG: Moving from Childhood Abuse to Gratitude is a beautifully written memoir of an extraordinary journey from pain to healing. Dorothea's story includes such ordinary experiences as growing up in a big family, marriage and children, divorce and single parenting, laughter, love, music and friendship, but also childhood trauma, dreams, visions, 'madness, ' and spiritual awakening."" -Margaret Espinola, MSW, LICSW Singer-songwriter, Metro-Boston and Long Island ""Dorothea shares her spiritual journey to wholeness with humor, compassion, insight and love. I was riveted from the first sentence to the last. Dorothea's words are deeply honest and real....she writes from her brave heart."" Maurine Egan, M.Ed., QTTP"
