Cassandra Potichnyj has revealed her first children's book centered on epilepsy, marking a significant milestone in her personal journey. Diagnosed with epilepsy at six weeks old in 1989, Cassandra confronted the condition until undergoing brain surgery on May 20, 2022. Throughout her developmental years, Cassandra struggled with feelings of exclusion, as her condition prevented her from partaking in many typical childhood adventures, due to the potential triggers for seizures. Following her transformative brain surgery, Cassandra discovered a newfound talent for rhyme. Using this skill, she embarked on the creation of a children's rhyming book featuring a main character with epilepsy. Driven by a deep sense of purpose, Cassandra is dedicated in her belief that she is meant to support others navigating epilepsy, ensuring they never experience isolation. ""Let's reframe epilepsy as an adventure rather than a hardship,"" she remarked. Cassandra's key objective is to encourage understanding and support for individuals living with epilepsy, eliminating the stigma associated with the condition and promoting a sense of inclusivity and wellness for all.
