Constitutive Modeling of Engineering Materials provides an extensive theoretical overview of elastic, plastic, damage, and fracture models, giving readers the foundational knowledge needed to successfully apply them to and solve common engineering material problems. Particular attention is given to inverse analysis, parameter identification, and the numerical implementation of models with the finite element method. Application in practice is discussed in detail, showing examples of working computer programs for simple constitutive behaviors. Examples explore the important components of material modeling which form the building blocks of any complex constitutive behavior.

Vladimir Buljak has completed his PhD in 2009 at the Politecnico di Milano where he spent additional two years as a post-doctoral fellow. He was then appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Strength of materials of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade. He is currently an associate professor in the same department and a visiting professor for the unit of study ""Theory of plasticity"" at the Politecnico di Milano. He was visiting scientist at the University of Trento in 2014, and at the German Federal institute for materials research and testing - BAM in Berlin in 2016. He was scientist in charge for the University of Belgrade for the European FP7-INT project CERMAT2, dealing with advanced ceramic materials, and for the ongoing project Horizon 2020 REFRACURE2. Gianluca Ranzi is a Professor in the School of Civil Engineering and Director of the Centre for Advanced Structural Engineering at The University of Sydney. His research interests fall in the fields of structural engineering, architectural science, building energy management and power demand side management, and heritage conservation.
