Mark Shand's higher education occurred at the University of Warwick, England. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1983 and PhD. in 1986. His education continued with Postdoctoral research at Bowling Green State University, Ohio. Dr. Shand's interest and research into magnesia cements began in 1990, when he started working for Premier Magnesia, where he is currently Vice President of Research and Development. Dr. Shand's book “The Chemistry and Technology of Magnesia was published in 2006. Dr. Shand enjoys photography and walking his dog Delta as well as introducing the wonders of science to his children. Abir Al-Tabbaa is a professor of geotechnical engineering at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK. A Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Professor Al-Tabbaa has significant experience across academia and industry. Jueshi Qian is a professor with the College of Material Science and Engineering at Chongqing University, Chongqin, China. Professor Qian has contributed to over 170 publications and collaborated with teams across the globe. Liwu Mo is a professor with the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanjing Tech University, Nanjing, China. He has previously held positions as a visiting scholar and exchange scholar of the Royal Academy of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK. Fei Jin is an assistant professor of geotechnical engineering at the James Watt School of Engineering, based at the University of Glasgow, UK. He has chaired sessions at numerous international conferences and holds a number of memberships and editorial positions in the field.
