The Sands charity (the leading stillbirth and neonatal charity in the UK) was started over 40 years ago by two mothers who had suffered stillbirths and realised how little support was available to them. Sands support anyone affected by the death of a baby and work in partnership with healthcare professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care. They also promote improvements in practice and fund research to help reduce the number of babies dying. They can be found at www.sands.org.uk.
