Hi, my name is Shirley and I was inspired to write this book for my princess, Elizabeth. My hope is to reach as many families as possible with the purpose of spreading awareness and inclusivity for this beautiful special needs community. She has so much to share about her beautiful journey growing up as a young school age girl. Here you will laugh, relate, and realize she is just like you!She loves to eat ice cream, dance, play and most of all, spend time with her family. Watching her enjoy life is one of the greatest gifts I can ever ask for. I'm a mother of four. Most of my day consist of my children's activities, which I love to do, and help run our family business. Something I am passionate about is sharing with families my life experiences as a mother of a girl with Down syndrome. Yes, it may have its challenges but I can't imagine my life any other way. These books are just that, expressing love, frustration, joy and accomplishment all in one.We hope you enjoy all her books and remember you are ""ABOVE THE CLOUDS AND STARS"".
I read this as a bedtime story to my 5 and 7-year-olds, and we really enjoyed it. The story highlights three different themes: embracing differences (the girl has down syndrome), demonstrating courage and determination, and showcasing family love and sibling dynamics. Despite being a short story, the author effectively conveys these valuable lessons in an engaging and adorable narrative with meaningful takeaways. The story is the sweetest part of this story. Briefly, a little girl with down syndrome struggles to keep up with her brother while they ride bikes. Often, stories like this will focus on ideas like, ""You can do other things so well!"" but this one takes the more interesting approach: yeah, your brother's faster now, but if you work at it you'll get there. The author skillfully portrays Liz's challenges and triumphs in a way that resonates with readers of all ages. The writing style is clear and motivational, making complex concepts of physical training and perseverance accessible and appealing to a younger audience. What stands out in this installment is the detailed, yet easy-to-understand description of biking techniques and muscle-building exercises. It's evident that a lot of research has gone into making the information both accurate and digestible. Discover a heartwarming book series delving into the lives of children with Down syndrome, showcasing their challenges and triumphs. 'Liz Trains for Bike-Ready Muscles' particularly stands out as it highlights the supportive role of Liz's sibling in her journey towards achieving her goals. This adorable story with great visuals not only sheds light on the struggles associated with low muscle tone but also emphasizes the importance of teamwork and family unity. It's a wonderful read for families of all backgrounds, offering insight into the unique challenges associated with Down syndrome while promoting empathy and understanding.
