Whilst leaving footpaths should NEVER be done,

Straying from stories is all sorts of fun!

Little Red Reading Hood LOVES reading books and making up stories of her own. When she meets a cunning wolf while on her way to the library, he convinces her to stray from the path and read for a little while. But hasn't she read this in a story before? Perhaps it's time she came up with a new ending . . .

A contemporary and fun take on the classic fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood. Created by incredible new picture book partnership, Lucy Rowland and Ben Mantle, Little Red Reading Hood will inspire children, and adults, about the magic of books and reading.

Lucy Rowland grew up in Cheltenham and gained a degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Reading before becoming a children's speech and language therapist in South London where she now lives. Lucy has loved reading and listening to poetry from a young age and has turned her passion into writing picture book stories with quirky characters and irresistible rhythms. Following on from Jake Bakes a Monster Cake and Pirate Pete and His Smelly Feet, Little Red Reading Hood is Lucy's third picture book with Macmillan Children's Books. One of Lucy's all-time favourite picture books is Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr Suess because, just like Little Red Reading Hood, it shows us how we can all be in charge of our own destiny. Ben Mantle began his illustration career early, picking up his first award in a local library colouring-in competition aged seven. He went on to study Animation at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design before working as an animator in children's film and television. Ben has illustrated a number of children's books including Rudey's Windy Christmas (HarperCollins) and Callum's Incredible Construction Kit (Egmont) which won the 2013 Bishop's Stortford Picture Book Award. He is also the creator of the award-winning The Best Birthday Present Ever! and The Best Christmas Present Ever! published by Macmillan Children's Books. Like Little Red Reading Hood, Ben has many favourite books including Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak and The Jolly Postman by Allan and Janet Ahlberg. Ben lives and works in Brighton.
