Ami started playing the Native American style flute in 2012 after hearing it at a bookstore. The sounds were enchanting as any aspiring flute player can attest. After acquiring a couple of flutes and reading a couple of books, Ami decided to learn to play this instrument in earnest. Having played and studied piano as a child, Ami was able to understand the fundamental capabilities of the flute quickly. She learned through online lessons with several excellent teachers, recorded courses, various flute schools, getting certified as a therapeutic musician on the Native American style flute, as well as Music for People training.A few years later, Ami decided to teach beginners locally in New Hampshire. Now with a need for a curriculum book, Ami combined her love of writing and her skills as a desktop publisher to create the first version of this book for her local students. This book was first printed at a local copy shop in 2013. Ami taught in-person group lessons locally in Manchester and Concord NH. The classes were popular and tons of fun. In 2016, Ami published the book on Amazon. Now with thousands of readers near and far, the book serves as a tried and true resource for the beginning player. The curriculum has also been developed into a fully recorded video course.
