Fiona likes to write, draw and design and is inspired by nature and the outdoors. She lives in Australia and has worked as an art and design teacher and Education Officer for a design teachers organisation. She has written and illustrated a range of children’s books and collaborated on many creative projects. Fiona has a partner, a daughter and a border terrier dog named Pepper. She hopes that when children read this book they will be inspired to look closely at the objects in their world, and use these as starting points to write their own haiku
This is a splendid addition to the Australian haiku landscape, encouraging a new generation to actively observe the vibrant natural world around them and to capture those moments with the platypus, the rosella and the wattle in thoughtfully selected words. Haiku is an accessible creative pursuit, requiring few tools but an inquisitive mind-ideal for children exploring outside with their parents and teachers. Fiona's watercolours complement the delicate beauty of her haiku, ensuring this will be a treasured childhood book. Alison Rogers - haiku poet at Connected Words Secretary - Australian Haiku Society
