Following a career in education, Mary Dalgleish qualified as an aromatherapist at the Tisserand Institute of Holistic Aromatherapy in London in 1999 and later worked there as an anatomy and physiology lecturer. Her aromatherapy studies sparked an interest in natural health, and since then she has completed a variety of complementary therapy training courses including reflexology and various forms of massage. Mary has worked as a lecturer in the complementary therapy departments of several London adult education colleges including Kingston, Merton, Sutton and Morley Colleges. She has also lectured at several private colleges, including Maureen Burgess AOR Accredited School of Reflexology, Westminster School of Yoga, the School of Natural Therapies, and more recently at the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine & Aromatherapy (ITHMA) based at Regent's University in London. Over the course of her career, Mary has also taught a range of continuing professional development massage courses for qualified therapists. Mary was awarded a 'Certificate of Excellence' for teaching Anatomy & Physiology at Merton Adult College in May 2005 and again in May 2008 (nominated by her students). She was also awarded a 'Commended Tutor of the Year' Certificate at the Federation of Holistic Therapists Excellence in Education Awards in 2012. Mary ran a private clinical practice in London for over 20 years and now resides in the Cotswolds. 'KNOW YOUR BODY The Essential Guide to Human Anatomy and Physiology' was submitted to the Page Turner Awards 2020 and Mary was among the writing award finalists! Mary is passionate about health and wellbeing and enjoys a range of activities including yoga, walking and swimming. She hopes that KNOW YOUR BODY will inspire those who read it to make positive health and lifestyle choices.
""Mary Dalgleish has created an eminently accessible and informative book. Whilst containing detailed information regarding human anatomy and physiology appropriate for the medical level, it remains a delightful and pleasing read. A deep and expansive addition to any library; it is an edition no serious student of human health should be without!"" Michael S. Fenster, MD FACC, FSCA&I, PEMBA Adjunct Professor of Medicine (Culinary Medicine) https: //chefdrmike.com ""All in all, Know Your Body delivers three principal benefits: it is a joy to read; its contents meet an important requirement for the practitioner dedicated to improving the health of their patients; and it provides those who invest time in reading it with a deeper grasp of how the innumerable complex processes of the body function together holistically as an orchestra performs a symphony.""
