San Francisco-born artist Kaffe Fassett is a name every quilter knows. His work has been commissioned by the British monarchy, American fashion designers, and the Royal Shakespeare Company. More than a decade ago, Fassett partnered with Rowan to create the Kaffe Fassett Collections, which debuts new fabrics each fall. He has written numerous best-sellers, including Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in an English Village, Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in Burano, Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in the Cotswolds, Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in Morocco, Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in Italy, and Kaffe Fassett's Quilts in Wales.
International textile designer Kaffe Fassett has drawn on his love affair with Hastings to produce this joyous quilting book, brimming with his legendary flair for colour and pattern. Fassett, who has a weekend retreat in old Hastings, celebrates ‘the heightened, vulgar colour and pastel tones’ of the seaside town, as well as its mix of ‘the fun and the faded’. He has taken inspiration, he says, from its jauntily painted beach huts, rusty old boats and pier with its funfair and silvered wood. In this 25th book in the series, he has refreshed a favourite quilt design from each of his previous titles with up-to-date fabrics. The pages are packed with wonderful photography of Hastings by long-time collaborator Debbie Patterson. -- Angela Wintle * Sussex Life magazine *
