"""This Festschrift highlights the significant impact of Thomas R. Cole's pioneering research in humanistic gerontology, aging studies, and medical humanities. In its chapters, established scholars not only discuss the transformative power of Cole's contributions to their research but also reflect on his unwavering commitment to clarity, honesty, compassion, and care in his roles as an academic leader, colleague, teacher, mentor, and friend. The result is an outstanding kaleidoscope of chapters that bear witness to the large body of excellent work accomplished by Cole."" --Ulla Kriebernegg, professor of cultural aging and care research, University of Graz ""The outcome of a Festschrift conference held in April 2023, this book provides a rich sampling of the themes and thoughts that Thomas R. Cole has developed during his academic career as a scholar of aging and of medical humanities, woven around the biographical narrative of his own journey through life. The various chapters contribute both a kind of legacy of Cole's work and directions toward the future. Rich fare for all those interested in the link between age studies, the arts, and humanities."" --Chris Gilleard, honorary associate professor, University College London Division of Psychiatry ""When deep questions of value or meaning arise, we benefit from having companions in reflection, discernment, and action. This elegant volume offers readers a wise, generous, and discerning group of companions. Collectively, they honor the life and work of one who reminds us that the act of engaging timeless and timely questions of value and meaning, especially with trusted others, enriches our life journeys and our humanity."" --Allan Cole, dean, Steve Hicks School of Social Work, University of Texas at Austin"
