Richard I. Cohen is Professor Emeritus in modern Jewish history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, recently served as the academic director of the Israel Center of Research Excellence (I-Core) for the Study of Cultures of Place in the Modern Jewish World and was formerly the Paulette and Claude Kelman Chair in French Jewry Studies. His research interests have focused on the history of Jews in western and central Europe and on the interrelationship between art and society in the modern period.
