Daniel Cheng is a Singaporean writer. He was an engineer for 15 years and then in gaming and hospitality for over two decades. A regular contributor to news and trade publications, he published his first book, The Rainbow Upopo, in 2021. His second book, the following year, was a non-fiction work, Japan Casino Uprising, about the legalization of casinos in Japan.
To date, the Japan (casino) effort has not achieved the announced goals and objectives as set forth by the government. Daniel Cheng has addressed these matters in a detailed and interesting way, from the efforts to enact legislation to the efforts of the prefectural governments to consider or not consider pursuing an IR in their prefectures, the failure of various Japanese governments to invest political capital in moving the IR process forward, and the failure of the population of various prefectures to support the IR process.
