Rajinder Pal is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo since 1991, and a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada. He received degrees in Chemical Engineering from I.I.T. Kanpur (B.Tech. 1981) and the University of Waterloo (Ph.D. 1987), followed by a post- doctoral fellowship at the University of Alberta. His research interests include complex fluid rheology, interfacial and transport phenomena, physical properties of composite materials, and non-equilibrium thermodynamics. He has published close to 150 refereed journal articles, 4 books, and 5 book chapters on these and related subjects, including 8 papers in engineering education journals.Professor Pal has been the recipient of several awards including the University of Waterloo prestigious Distinguished Teacher Award (2020), Sandford Fleming Foundation Teaching Excellence Award (twice 2001 and 2017), an Outstanding Performance Award from the University of Waterloo (2009), and the Syncrude Canada Innovation Award from the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (1998). He is a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada since 1999. He serves on several journal editorial boards and was an Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering for twelve years. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, Canada.
